KINGSPORT, TENN. – Dobyns-Bennett High School has revealed the design of the proposed Dobyns-Bennett High School Specialty License Plate for Tennessee and are now taking pre-orders online from all individuals living in Tennessee. The Dobyns-Bennett specialty license plate will be a legal, registered Tennessee specialty license plate that can be renewed each year. This is not a decorative or novelty plate.

The funds raised through the purchase of the D-B specialty license plate will directly benefit Kingsport City Schools middle school athletics programs at John Sevier Middle School and Ross N. Robinson Middle School. 

"It is very important for middle school students to get involved in healthy and positive activities outside of the school day," said KCS Superintendent Dr. Chris Hampton. "This endeavor will provide support that will increase opportunities for middle school students and has the potential to improve the overall quality of our middle school athletic programs."

To date, the D-B specialty license plates have not been produced. In order to have approval by the State of Tennessee to start production, a minimum of 1,000 pre-ordered plates are required. The cost of the Dobyns-Bennett specialty license plate is $35 (plus processing fee) in addition to your regular vehicle registration fee. This is a non-refundable fee that covers the specialty license plate surcharge only. The public can pre-order the D-B specialty license plate for Tennessee by clicking here.

Once the minimum requirement of 1,000 pre-ordered specialty license plates have been reached, production time is expected to take 4-6 months before the specialty license plates will be shipped to the purchaser's county clerk's office for pick-up. Each year, there is an opportunity to renew the Dobyns-Bennett specialty license plate along with vehicle registration.
